From prehistory man has been captivated by the landscapes surrounding the town of Gata de Gorgos. In a cliff that looks out over the bed of the river Xaló or Gorgos we find the Roges caves, natural shelters where the oxidation of the ground has turned the limestone red, paintings and engravings from the Upper Paleolithic have been found.
